Devnagri's DOTA Web Enables Multilingual Access to Government Website Enhancing Citizen Engagement

About the Customer

The customer is a central government platform intended to make its services accessible to its services for citizens who do not understand English. Many of the population opts for information on the website in their language as per the norms set by the government. The aim was to make it accessible in various regional languages for each citizen who accesses the website and promote inclusivity for individuals who speak native languages.

Problems:

  • A significant section of the Indian population speaks regional languages and may not be fluent in English. If the platform is unavailable in local languages, many citizens would be deprived of access to services.
  • The government had made it mandatory that websites should be available in regional languages, and this requirement became a legal necessity.
  • By making the website available in 11 regional languages, the government could increase user engagement by serving large populations more feasibly and ensuring higher participation rates from diverse citizens.
